About Speaker Cleaner
A single tool that does one job well: shaking water and dust out of speakers using the speaker itself.
Why this exists
Phones get wet. A sink, a rain shower, a pint glass, a pool. The phone survives, but the sound goes thin and muddy for days afterwards because a film of liquid is sitting on a diaphragm the width of a fingernail. The advice people find online is usually a bag of rice, which does nothing for a speaker, or a repair quote that costs more than the problem.
There is a better answer than rice, and it has been built into the Apple Watch for years: play a low tone loud enough and the speaker can push water out itself. This site is that idea, made free, made to work on any device, and extended with modes for dust and for testing each channel separately.
What the tool actually does
Your browser generates the tone locally using the Web Audio API. Nothing is streamed, nothing is downloaded, and no audio file is involved — the page builds the waveform in real time, which is why it still works with no internet connection once the page has loaded.
- Water eject holds a steady tone near 165 Hz, a commonly used starting pitch for this job, with a slider so you can try other pitches on your own device.
- Dust clean sweeps 200 Hz to 1,500 Hz, which may help loosen light dust. It is a first attempt, not a guaranteed fix.
- Deep clean pulses low tones on and off and triggers the vibration motor on devices that allow it.
- Speaker test sends beeps to the left channel, the right channel or both, so you can hear which side is the problem.
What it will not do
We would rather be useful than impressive. Sound cannot reverse corrosion, re-glue a torn diaphragm or dry the inside of a phone that has been submerged for a minute. If test mode shows one channel is dead rather than muffled, no tone will bring it back and a repair shop is the honest next step.
